I started gymnastics at the age of three. I loved to cartwheel, walk along walls and dance in the garden but was very shy and reserved. My mum tried me out at our local gymnastics club and I fell in love instantly with gymnastics and my confidence started to blossom. I trained from the age of 3 and achieved many titles at different regional and national competitions all over the country. I also competed/trained Internationally in countries like Malta, Jersey and USA (New York, Boston, New Jersey) I also made headlines in the Oxford Mail for my success in competitions.
When I turned 15 I decided I wanted to teach what I had learnt over the years to younger aspiring gymnasts. I started coaching sessions in between my extensive weekly training schedule. When I turned 18 I retired from training gymnastics and pursued a full-time job teaching gymnastics at Abingdon Gymnastics Club. Where I learnt from the very best how to teach and inspire young gymnasts. I coached recreational, pre-school, adults and the junior elite gymnasts. I coached gymnasts that managed to achieve county, regional and national titles. I was choreographer for the gymnast’s floor and beam routines also organising the big Christmas shows and displays of 100+ gymnasts to raise money for many different charities. The shows included- Grease, Shrek, Lion King and Aladdin.
When I turned 21 I wanted to expand my opportunities to help teach even more children gymnastics. I have so much passion for gymnastics it runs in my blood. Over the past years I have been lucky enough to meet some truly inspirational people who have helped me along the way. I am now a fully qualified Personal Trainer and Freelance Gymnastics Coach, teaching Acro/Gymnastics for dancers all over Oxfordshire.
I wanted to set up my own classes where I can put all my passion and exciting ideas into something of my own. I thoroughly enjoy working with parents and gymnasts to help the gymnasts grow in to the best gymnast/people they can be. I want to share my knowledge and passion with all children and help them grow their confidence just like my coaches did when I was young. I want to be an inspiration for all children who want to try out gymnastics or may struggle with their confidence.
I want to create a welcoming environment where gymnasts feel safe, supported, inspired and to believe they can achieve anything. Gymnastics gave me the confidence and knowledge I have today, I believe gymnastics gives children confidence and will benefit them with their school, home and social situations. Gymnastics is a beautiful sport and any achievement big or small will be celebrated at Miss Poppy’s Gymnastics.
I am a British Gymnastics Level 2 Women’s Artistic Coach, Welfare Officer, First Aid Trained, Level 3 Personal Trainer, Safe Guarding and Protecting Children Qualified, Health and Safety Trained and have a up to date DBS.
